Hello, folks! How are you doing? I hope you have had a great week and are now ready for the weekend (I was ready like at 10 am Monday). Yes, we made it – it’s Friday! And what does it mean? Well, besides that, it is followed by the weekend?

That’s right. We should indulge in something very special. And if you are looking for something sweet and naughty, then look no further.

What about a boozy milkshake? Or specifically, Boozy Lavender Gin Milkshake? I know, don’t thank me, folks.

Boozy Lavender Gin Milkshake

This Boozy Lavender Gin Milkshake is probably everything you would want an adult milkshake to look like. Okay, maybe nothing can beat this Irish Cream Milkshake. Let me rephrase. This milkshake recipe is probably everything you would want from a summer milkshake for adults.

The delicate vanilla ice cream is combined with lavender in this drinkable concoction. And yes, at this point it’s quite sweet and basic.

But then a generous amount of gin goes in, and everything changes. To start, the botanical profile of gin goes nicely with lavender. Plus, it balances out the sweetness. And here we go – still quite sweet, yet more complex and exciting.

Ingredients You’ll Need for Boozy Lavender Gin Milkshake

To make this boozy lavender milkshake, you will need the following ingredients:

  • Vanilla ice cream. Be sure to let the ice cream sit at room temperature until it starts to soften, 10 to 15 minutes, for easy blending. Also, as lavender syrup is also sweet, I recommend going with an ice cream brand that has a lower sugar content. You can play with other flavours like lemon, blueberry, strawberry, lavender, or maybe even chocolate.
  • Lavender syrup – adds sweetness and lavender aroma.
    • Dried lavender buds – optional, for even a more pronounced flavour.
  • Gin – any good quality and not super expensive gin will do. Personally, I prefer less juniper-forward gins, but you can go with whatever you like.
  • Blueberry jam – an optional ingredient, for added colour. (Typically, lavender syrup has a yellow or amber colour with some greyish hues).
  • Milk – optional, only if you prefer a thinner milkshake. But you can also add more gin for this purpose.

Possible Additions and Variations

  • Add some lemon juice or lemon zest for extra freshness.
  • Vanilla – a little vanilla extract or vanilla seeds will add a smooth and pleasant finish.
  • Swap for other liquor like vodka, rum, or brandy.
  • When making lavender syrup, use honey instead of sugar; honey goes so well with lavender.

Ingredients

  • about 450 g. (1.5 US pint or 2 cups)
    vanilla ice cream

  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup (80-120 ml.) gin,
    or more if desired

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml.) Lavender syrup 

  • 1/4 tsp. dried lavender buds, minced or rubbed
    optional, for a more pronounced aroma

  • 2-3 tbsp. (30-45 g.) blueberry jam,
    optional for added colour

  • milk, optional – only if you prefer a thinner version

Directions

  • Remove the ice cream from the freezer and let it sit at room temperature until it starts to soften, 10 to 15 minutes, for easy blending. In the meantime, chill the glasses in the fridge or even freezer.
  • Place in the cup of your blender the softened ice cream, gin (starting with about 1/3 cup), lavender syrup, blueberry jam (if using), and lavender buds (if using)
  • Blend until the milkshake is smooth and pourable, about 40-60 seconds. Try and add more gin or milk to achieve the desired taste and consistency. Divide the milkshake between the chilled glasses, garnish as desired, and enjoy!

  1. I love all your recipes using edible flowers especially lavender. Before I downsized I had a big bed of lavender that I not only used for cooking but as dried/fresh flowers. It always brought the bees to my garden too. Luckily you can buy dried (expensive) but I have been using infused balsamic vinegar and honey lately – had to adapt :)
