This Earl Grey Lavender Milkshake is a creamy, floral drinkable dessert made with real Earl Grey tea infusion and fragrant lavender syrup. Smooth vanilla ice cream blends with concentrated tea and milk to create a refreshing summer milkshake with elegant botanical depth.
Today, I’m sharing one of my favourite floral summer treats. It’s delicate yet bold, comforting yet refreshing, and it feels just a little bit special without requiring any complicated steps. So, let’s dive into this Earl Grey Lavender Milkshake.
Why You’ll Love This Earl Grey Lavender Milkshake
- Floral and Elegant: The combination of Earl Grey tea and lavender creates a refined botanical flavour that feels sophisticated yet approachable.
- Creamy and Smooth: Vanilla ice cream gives this milkshake a luxurious, velvety texture.
- Customizable Intensity: You can easily adjust the strength of the tea or lavender to suit your taste.
- Perfect Summer Dessert: It’s refreshing, lightly aromatic, and ideal as a drinkable dessert on warm days.
Flavour and Texture Profile
This milkshake is creamy, smooth, and delicately floral. The Earl Grey brings gentle citrusy bergamot notes, while the lavender adds a soft herbal aroma. Because the tea is brewed strong before blending, its flavour remains noticeable even after being combined with milk and ice cream. Overall, the texture is thick yet pourable, with a refreshing, melt-in-your-mouth finish.
Ingredients You’ll Need for This Earl Grey Lavender Milkshake
To make this Earl Grey Lavender Milkshake, you only need a few simple ingredients, yet each one plays an essential role in building flavour and texture.
- Vanilla Ice Cream: This forms the rich and creamy base of the milkshake. Its sweetness balances the floral notes beautifully while creating that classic thick, velvety texture.
- Milk: A small amount of milk helps loosen the consistency, making the milkshake smooth and perfectly pourable without becoming too thin.
- Earl Grey Tea: Brewed very strong and then cooled, the tea provides distinctive bergamot citrus notes. Because it is concentrated, its flavour remains noticeable even after blending with dairy.
- Lavender Syrup or Dried Lavender Buds: Lavender syrup adds gentle floral sweetness and blends seamlessly. Alternatively, dried culinary lavender buds can be lightly crushed to release their aroma before blending for a more natural herbal character.
How to Make Earl Grey Lavender Milkshake
To prepare this Earl Grey Lavender Milkshake, start by brewing a very strong Earl Grey tea infusion using several tea bags and a small amount of water. Since the tea will be diluted with milk and ice cream, the concentrated flavour is essential. Let the tea cool completely before blending so it doesn’t melt the ice cream too quickly.
Meanwhile, allow the vanilla ice cream to soften slightly at room temperature, and chill your serving glasses for a more refreshing finish. Once the tea has cooled, add it to a blender along with the milk, lavender syrup, and softened ice cream. If using dried lavender buds instead of syrup, gently rub them between your fingers first to release their aroma. Blend until smooth and creamy, then taste and adjust the floral intensity if needed. Finally, pour into chilled glasses and serve immediately while thick and frosty.

Sorry — tea and I are not friends! But doing a bergamot flavor with lavender would be awesome!
Thank you David!
Say what!? Tea in milkshake form? Now that’s something I would never have thought about. When I think milkshake, I go to the more traditional flavors…but this is such a great idea!
Thank you David!
I love milkshakes and these flavors are over the top!! Sounds amazing. As always your presentation is beautiful.
Thank you Judee!
There’s a local ice cream shop that makes a mean earl grey lavender milkshake — I really need to make this at home! Absolutely love this flavor combo :)
Me too :)
Thank you Michelle!
I’ve never bern a huge fan of milkshakes, I’m guessing it’s because I grew up in a European household and we just never had them, of course we had ice cream and even sorbet but not milkshakes! Having said that, this os a flavour combination I would love to try.
Thank you Eva!
I think I might try this with brewing the tea in the milk? Or maybe even making some Earl Grey tea ice cream, as I love the flavour.
Yes, both would be great options!
You have me want to rush to the kitchen and make one for myself too! Lovely flavour and so pretty, Ben.
Haha thank you, Angie!
