Hey, folks! Today, we’re keeping things simple yet a little bit fancy with a drinkable dessert that feels straight out of a charming café. Lavender has such a lovely, subtle aroma, and when paired with vanilla ice cream, it transforms an ordinary milkshake into something memorable. So, let’s dive into this Lavender Milkshake.

Why You’ll Love This Lavender Milkshake

  • Elegant yet easy. Although it tastes refined, this milkshake comes together in just minutes with minimal ingredients.
  • Delicately floral. The lavender adds a gentle aromatic note without overpowering the creamy vanilla base.
  • Perfectly creamy. Thanks to the ice cream-to-milk ratio, the texture is smooth, rich, and satisfyingly thick.
  • Customizable sweetness. You can easily adjust the lavender syrup to suit your taste.
  • Beautiful presentation. Served in chilled glasses, it instantly feels like a special occasion dessert.

Flavour and Texture Profile

This Lavender Milkshake is smooth, velvety, and luxuriously creamy. The vanilla ice cream provides a rich, comforting base, while the lavender syrup introduces a soft floral aroma that lingers gently rather than dominating. The result is balanced, lightly sweet, and refreshing, with a texture that is thick yet perfectly sippable.

Ingredients You’ll Need for This Lavender Milkshake

To make this Lavender Milkshake, you only need a few simple ingredients that work beautifully together.

  • Vanilla ice cream. This forms the creamy foundation of the milkshake. Choose a good-quality vanilla for the best flavour.
  • Milk. Whole milk creates a richer texture, but you can use 2% if preferred. Adjusting the amount controls thickness.
  • Lavender syrup or dried lavender buds. Lavender syrup is the easiest option and blends smoothly. Alternatively, rub dried culinary lavender between your fingers before adding to release more aroma.

How to Make

To make this Lavender Milkshake, first allow the vanilla ice cream to sit at room temperature for about 10 to 15 minutes, just until it begins to soften. Meanwhile, chill your serving glasses in the refrigerator or freezer for an extra refreshing touch.

Next, add the milk and lavender syrup to the blender, starting with two tablespoons of syrup. Then add the softened ice cream. If you are using dried lavender buds instead of syrup, rub them gently between your fingers to break them up before adding.

Blend until the milkshake becomes smooth and pourable, which usually takes about 40 to 60 seconds. Taste and, if needed, add a little more lavender syrup for a stronger floral note. Finally, pour into chilled glasses and serve immediately.

How to Customize

  • Super thick version. Use less milk for an ultra-thick, spoonable milkshake. You can even reduce the milk to 1/2 cup for a dense, almost soft-serve texture.
  • Extra floral. Add a little more lavender syrup gradually, tasting as you go to avoid overpowering bitterness.
  • Honey touch. Blend in a small drizzle of honey for added depth and warmth.
  • Vegan option. Use dairy-free vanilla ice cream and plant-based milk for a fully dairy-free treat.
  • Whipped cream topping. Finish with whipped cream and a tiny sprinkle of crushed lavender buds for an elegant presentation.

  4. The photos are stunning Ben!! And I love the addition of lavender to this milkshake. A perfect summer treat!

  5. We don’t make milkshakes very often around here. I honestly don’t know why. I even have milkshake glasses in the back of the cupboard! Guess I need to pull those out soon, huh? The floral twist to this treat is quite fun…and good for summer heatwaves!

  6. Your lavender milkshake looks wonderful. I love your presentations and I am quite a fan of lavender flavor. We used to have a large lavender plant in our front yard but then it just disappeared on season. Probably didn’t make it through the winter or the deer ate it all. We too near Philadelphia are having a brutal heat wave. Reached about 100 degrees today!!

  7. I cannot remember when I had a milkshake last, it’s been that long. But, if I were to have one, I would definitely choose this recipe, the lavender sounds wonderful.

  8. wow how creative and beautiful is this! Don’t think I have ever had a milkshake. Now I want to try it!
