This Lavender Violet Cocktail is a beautifully aromatic drink with a soft lavender-purple hue that feels instantly calming and refined. Made with Crème de Violette, fresh citrus, and a subtle hint of lavender, it’s light, floral, and delicately balanced — a cocktail that’s as graceful in flavour as it is in appearance.
Hello, folks! How are you doing? I hope you all had a good week and that you are now ready for a great weekend. That’s a foolish thing to say. Of course, you are ready!
And in order to kick off the weekend right, I have a new cocktail recipe for you. This Lavender Violet Martini, to be precise. Well, I hope you have a bottle of Crème de Violette. Otherwise, you will need to run to a store to get it!
Why You’ll Love This Lavender Violet Cocktail
- Naturally beautiful colour: Gentle violet tones with a lavender tint create a visually striking yet soothing cocktail.
- Floral and aromatic: Crème de Violette and lavender bring soft floral notes without overpowering the drink.
- Light and refreshing: Bright citrus keeps the cocktail crisp and balanced.
- Elegant presentation: Perfect for spring gatherings, garden parties, or relaxed yet stylish entertaining.
- Simple but refined: Sophisticated flavour with minimal ingredients and effort.
What Is Crème de Violette?
Crème de Violette is a sweet, floral, and distinctly violet-flavoured liqueur with a beautiful deep purple colour. Some people also find notes of honey, elderflower, lavender, and a hint of lemon.
Ultra smooth and velvety, this liquor has a long-lasting floral-toward aroma making it perfect for sipping. You can enjoy it on the rocks as a dessert, or after-dinner drink. (If you enjoy sweet drinks.) Or, you can use use for exciting cocktails!
And because some people already find a hint of lavender in this liqueur, why not combine two floral flavours together?
Ingredients For Lavender Violet Cocktail
To make this Lavender Violet Cocktail, you will need the following ingredients:
- Rum – works as the base spirit in this recipe. You will need light, white rum for this recipe. Dark or spiced rum will not work as it will overpower the violet aroma. If you don’t like or have rum, vodka or gin should work just fine; if going with gin, try picking a more neutral, less juniper-forward flavour.
- Crème de Violette works as both a modifier and sweetener. This is a liqueur with a strong, distinct violet flavour often described as having a perfumed aftertaste.
- Lavender Simple Syrup. Because Crème de Violette is already quite sweet, you can reduce the sweetness by adding less sugar to the syrup. Normally, you require a ratio of 1:1 (i.e., one cup of water to one cup of sugar), but you can reduce the sugar in half for this recipe.
- Lime or lemon juice – freshly squeezed, to balance out the sweetness and accentuate the botanical aroma even further.
If you love floral flavour profiles in cocktails, then you will love this recipe.
This cocktail has a distinctive sweet and floral violet and lavender aroma, balanced by rum and citrus juice. It has a long-lasting floral finish making the cocktail perfect for sipping. It is quite sweet – but not overly sweet.
