Jump to RecipeHey folks, have are you doing?
If you are reading this post, most likely I am far away from home and this blog. Andrew and I might be somewhere on the way to Croatia or maybe already in this beautiful country where we will spend almost two weeks. It is quite a long flight with a few stops (Halifax – Boston – Munich – Zagreb), but we are so excited!
Croatia has always been on my travel bucket list (Andrew already visited it 15 years ago, but he saw only a couple of places). And here we go – it’s happening.
This trip is also to celebrate my birthdays. Yeah, I am turning 40 just in a few days. Finally, I can drive a car and buy booze LOL. Also, a special shout-out to Neil, if he is reading this post, as we celebrate our birthdays on the same day, if I am not mistaken!
Dulce de Leche Martini
Okay, enough about me. Let’s talk about this Dulce de Leche Martini instead!
There’s nothing much to tell. But if you love sweet / dessert cocktails, this will be right up your alley. It’s sweet, luscious, and so decadent.
Basically, you will need only three ingredients: rum, cream, and dulce de leche. Plus cinnamon, optionally. The consistency and taste reminds cream liqueurs like Baileys (By the way, please check this Dulce De leche Cream Liquor, too.) It’s sweet but not overpoweringly. And of course, you can adjust the sweetness to your liking. I used dark spiced rum which really nicely balances the sweetness. But you can use other spirits like vodka or bourbon.

Dulce de Leche Martini
Course: Drinks1-2

minutesThis Dulce de Leche Martini is smooth, rich, and decadent. If you love dessert cocktails, you should give this a try then!
Ingredients
2 oz. dark spiced rum
1 to 1 1/2 oz. dulce de leche
1 to 1 1/2 oz. cream 10%
a pinch of cinnamon (optional)
optional: more dulce de leche for garnish and rim
Directions
- In a shaker combine the rum, dulce de leche, cream, and cinnamon (if using) and shake vigorously for 40-60 seconds; it takes more time to incorporate the dulce de leche. Try and adjust the taste, as desired (add more dulce de leche, cream, or rum.)
- If you would like to make a dulce de leche rim, spread 1-2 tablespoons on a flat plate and dip a cocktail glass into it. If possibly, use thick dulce de leche for best result.
- If desired, drizzle with more dulce de leche (of course, it will result in a sweeter drink) or/and cinnamon. You can also serve it with a cinnamon stick for the presentation and stirring! Enjoy right away.
Notes
- Since we do not use ice cubes, you can chill rum along with cream and dulce de leche.

Interesting that you use the word “decadent,” because that’s the first thing that came to mind when I read the title and saw the opening shot. This sounds like a fabulous martini! I hope you’re enjoying Croatia! I was there years ago, and have many fond memories of it (plus a couple of ties that I continue to cherish).
Happy birthday to you!!! You are celebrating it right. Croatia is a beautiful country, and you will certainly be taken in by its lovely people, great food and scenery.
As for this decadent martini-wow! Looks incredible.

Wow! What a decadent adult beverage! It looks absolutely incredible. I’m not into sweet cocktails but I know some people who are and they would go crazy for this.

I loved the photo of you at ‘the cat bar’ on Instagram – so glad you’re having a fun birthday trip (better after the luggage arrives, lol).
