Honey Lavender Ricotta Spread is a rustic, creamy spread with delicate floral notes and natural sweetness from honey. This lavender ricotta pairs beautifully with toast, crostini, pancakes, or even as part of a brunch board. Light yet flavourful, it balances soft ricotta texture with a gentle botanical aroma, making it both elegant and easy to enjoy.
Hello, folks! How are you doing? I hope this week has been treating you well. And that it’s not too hot where you live, either.
Recently, I’ve been posting many lavender recipes on this blog. And you know what? I am not stopping anytime soon. I hope you don’t mind. Today, I am bringing something unique and delicious, featuring the combination of ricotta and lavender. This Honey Lavender Ricotta Spread, to be precise.
Why You’ll Love This Honey Lavender Ricotta Spread
- Delicately Floral: Lavender adds a subtle botanical hint without overpowering the creamy ricotta.
- Naturally Sweetened: Honey enhances the flavour while keeping the sweetness balanced and smooth.
- Rustic Texture: Not whipped or overly smooth — it has a pleasantly soft, slightly grainy character.
- Versatile: Perfect for toast, brunch boards, pancakes, crackers, or even as a dessert topping.
- Quick to Make: Comes together in minutes with just a few simple ingredients.
Cheese and Lavender Together?
I have already mentioned the book “Cooking with Lavender” by Nancy Baggett on several occasions. It is the only book I have tried multiple recipes from and shared the results here. Perhaps the best part of it is the section on culinary pairings. Before this book, I was not aware that lavender goes well with so many sweet and savoury ingredients.
- It pairs well with tomatoes and sun-dried tomatoes.
- Nuts and lavender are also a great pairing.
- It goes well with pasta, more pasta, couscous (and more couscous), pearl couscous, and rice. Really, with all carbs, I think.
- Next, potatoes are excellent pairing, too.
- Chickpeas are another great pairing.
- And say what? Even with corn.
- Certainly, meat.
- And also with watermelons and melons.
So, today we are covering another great ingredient – cheese, or specifically, ricotta cheese.
Ingredients for Honey Lavender Ricotta Spread
To make this Honey Lavender Ricotta Spread, you will need only four simple ingredients:
- Fresh ricotta. Ideally, full-fat for an ultra-creamy and rich result, but basically, any good-quality, thick, soft ricotta will do. It should not be too thin, though.
- Honey – any liquid honey of your choice will work.
- Dried lavender buds – just a little for a subtle hint; it’s always better to use less than more when it comes to lavender. Be sure to mince or rub it, so the flavour is distributed evenly.
- Salt – just a little touch, to balance out the sweetness and enhance the flavour. You can skip it, but without salt, this spread may taste slightly bland.
- Lemon zest – optional, for added freshness.
How to Enjoy Honey Lavender Ricotta Spread?
Enjoy this Honey Lavender Ricotta Spread as any other sweet spread or dip:
- On a toast.
- With crackers or breadsticks, for dipping.
- With pancakes, crepes, or waffles.
- As a filling for your cakes. (Or, perhaps, even a filling for cannoli!)
- As a healthier snack with some sliced fruit like apples or pears.
