Summer and fall meet in this Lavender Maple Sautéed Apples recipe. Luscious and rich, this easy dessert will be ready in under 15 minutes with several ingredients that you probably already have in the pantry.
Hey, folks – I hope you’re all well!
I’m thrilled to share this new recipe with you, a creation that was born in the moment. As we bid farewell to summer in the next two weeks, I want to savour a few more summer delights. Yet, with the mornings and nights growing cooler, I find myself yearning for the warmth and comfort of autumn. This is how the idea for these Lavender Maple Sautéed Apples came to be, a perfect blend of the two seasons.
Let’s embark on a culinary journey where late summer and early fall converge in one delectable recipe. Are you ready to dive in?
Do Apples and Lavender Go Together?
Yes, they pair well. The floral, subtly sweet lavender complementing apple’s fruitiness and tartness, just like in this Lavender Apple Cider Cocktail. In fact, lavender pairs well with many fruits, including:
- Lemons:
- Apricots:
- Peaches:
- Apples:
- Raspberries:
- Blueberries:
- Figs:
- Lychees:
Why You’ll Love Lavender Maple Sautéed Apples
- This recipe is a perfect bridge between late summer and early autumn, featuring the flavours of both seasons – lavender pairs well with both apples and maple.
- Lavender Maple Sautéed Apples
- It’s a super-easy recipe that requires around 15 minutes or less. Also, you will need only one pan to cook everything together.
- You can enjoy it as is or use it as a topping to elevate your oatmeal, pancakes, crepes, etc. My favourite way is to enjoy slightly warm sautéed apples with a scoop of vanilla or maple ice cream.

Ingredients You’ll Need for Lavender Maple Sautéed Apples
These easy maple apples require only several ingredients:
- Apples – Go with varieties that are good for cooking, e.g., Granny Smith, Macintosh, Cortland, or Gala, as they hold their shape well. But don’t be afraid to experiment with other varieties, each one can bring a unique twist to your cocktail or dessert. You can use the softer types, but you will need to be attentive not to overcook them; they could quickly turn mushy. For the best flavour, use two or more varieties, such as sweet and tart ones.Butter – Adds the richness and gloss.
- Maple syrup – Creates a sticky, caramel-like sauce and adds flavour.
- Dried lavender buds – Adds a pleasant floral hint. Use lavender sparingly, starting with a small amount and adding more to taste. Adding too much can give a perfumy, soapy aroma. And remember, always use culinary-grade lavender for the best results.
- Lemon – Adds freshness, brightness, and balances sweetness.
- Salt (optional) – A pinch of salt improves the flavour profile of desserts. I add it to almost all my desserts, but this depends on your preference.
- Cinnamon (optional) – Adds more flavour and an autumn vibe to this recipe.
How to Make These Easy Caramelized Apples
That’s easy, really. Simply combine the butter, maple syrup, and lavender in a pan and simmer for a few minutes until thickens slightly. Add the chopped apples, lemon juice, salt and cinnamon (if using) and sauté for about 7-10 minutes, until the apples are soft but not mushy. The cooking time depends on the variety of apples – soft apples may take less. That’s it – you can enjoy this hearty, flavourful dessert.
You can enjoy this easy dessert with a cup of fall tea, like Sea Buckthorn Tea Recipe (Seaberry Tea) or Rowan Berry Tea with Honey and Orange.

Adding maple syrup to sauteed apples is the quintessential fall dessert…and it’s super easy to make, too! The lavender is a twist I haven’t thought about, but I could see it working. Great recipe, Ben…and welcome to the fall!
I love how you took a simple dish like sauteed apples and elevated it into something exotic with the addition of lavender and maple. Delicious, Ben!
This is a great recipe that I could teach students in college so they could have something healthy and sweet for dessert. Love this recipe.
Thanks, David! I wouldn’t call this dessert healthy because of maple and butter, but at least it offers some fiber – so I guess, it’s somewhat healthy :)
Humm, those apples are all I like! Fall is here…
Thank you, Julia!
I am going to have to make these to go with some waffles!
That would be a great addition!
This makes a fantastic dessert or snack!
I agree – thanks, Angie!
