Earl Grey Lavender Iced Tea with lime is a bright, citrusy, and refreshing drink that is perfect to combat the summer heat.
Hello, folks! How are you doing? I hope you are enjoying a week and the summer, well, as long as it’s the summer where you live. And speaking of summer, it’s finally happening here in Nova Scotia, Canada. I am talking about serious heat waves and humidity. And if you know me, you probably realize I am not too happy. In fact, I am quite exhausted and grouchy.
But as very, very nice person, I care for my readers. That’s why I am bringing today on this blog a super refreshing and tasty drink that will help you combat the heatwave. Please welcome this Earl Grey Lavender Iced Tea.
What is Earl Grey?
Earl Grey tea is a black tea infused with a citrus fruit, bergamot.
Bergamot is known for its aromatic and fragrant rind that is often used for flavouring. It’s commonly used to flavour beverages, cakes, cookies, and even some savoury foods. It has a complex aroma that is slightly citrusy, floral, and spicy, with a subtle bitterness.
Earl Grey tea has a robust aroma coming from black tea leaves and Bergamot with its zesty notes resembling the mix of oranges, grapefruits, and limes. It also has floral undertones, with hints of rose and lavender.
Earl Grey and Lavender Pairing
That’s why Earl Grey and lavender goes so well together. It’s harmonious and soothing yet bright and refreshing. Please be sure to check some of the recipes featuring this pairing:

Ingredients You Will Need for Earl Grey Lavender Iced Tea
- Water – ideally, filtered.
- Earl Grey tea bags – I usually go with 1 bag per 1 cup, plus one additional, for a more pronounced flavour (as ice cubes and lime will dilute it slightly). But feel free to adjust it to your taste. Decaffeinated tea will also perfectly work.
- Some brands offer Earl Grey tea with an addition of lavender. Great option – and you don’t need to make lavender syrup! If using this type of tea, you can use some honey as a sweetener instead of lavender syrup.
- Lavender Syrup – adds the flavour and sweetness. For lavender syrup, you will need granulated sugar and dried lavender buds.
- Lime – sliced, for added freshness. You can use lemon instead.
- Ice cubes.
And certainly you can make Earl Grey Iced Tea by omitting the lavender syrup. In this case, you can add some honey as a sweetener.

What a beautiful glass of iced tea, Ben! And your timing on this couldn’t be better as we’re experiencing that same heat wave down here in North Carolina right now. SO hot out there. A tall glass of this iced tea at about 3pm this afternoon would be so refreshing! Do you deliver??
