This refreshing drink strikes that balance beautifully, with a clean tea base, lively citrus notes, and optional thyme for a subtle herbal twist. So, let’s dive into this Passion Fruit Green Iced Tea.

Why You’ll Love This Passion Fruit Green Iced Tea

  • Light and refreshing: Crisp green tea keeps this drink clean and thirst-quenching.
  • Bright tropical flavour: Passion fruit adds tangy sweetness and aroma.
  • Naturally sweetened: A touch of honey enhances the flavours without overpowering them.
  • Easy to make ahead: Perfect for chilling in the fridge and serving throughout the day.
  • Customizable: Adjust sweetness, citrus, or herbs to suit your taste.

Flavour Profile

This iced tea is clean and lightly grassy from the green tea, with a vibrant tartness from passion fruit and lime or lemon. The honey adds gentle floral sweetness, while fresh thyme — if used — brings a subtle herbal freshness that elevates the drink without dominating it. Overall, it’s light, smooth, and extremely refreshing.

Ingredients You’ll Need for This Recipe

  • Green tea: A good-quality loose-leaf tea or tea bags provide a clean, lightly grassy base.
  • Passion fruit pulp: Fresh or prepared pulp adds tropical tang and aroma.
  • Lime or lemon juice: Brightens the tea and balances the sweetness.
  • Liquid honey: Optional, for gentle natural sweetness.
  • Fresh thyme: Optional, for a delicate herbal note.
  • Cold water: Dilutes the brewed tea to a smooth, drinkable strength.
  • Garnishes: Fresh passion fruit, citrus slices, and thyme sprigs for serving.

How to Make Passion Fruit Green Iced Tea

Brew a strong green tea according to package instructions, using a small amount of water to concentrate the flavour. Allow it to cool slightly.

Transfer the brewed tea to a pitcher, then stir in the passion fruit pulp, citrus juice, and thyme if using. Taste and add honey if needed, adjusting to your preferred sweetness. Add the remaining water, stir well, and refrigerate until fully chilled. Serve over ice and garnish as desired.

Possible Additions and Variations

  • Add fresh mint instead of thyme for a classic, cooling herbal note.
  • Use jasmine green tea for a more floral flavour profile.
  • Sweeten with simple syrup or agave instead of honey.
  • Add sparkling water just before serving for a lightly fizzy version.
