Lavender Milkshake

Hello folks! How are you doing? Probably, surviving summer heat? Don’t mention that! It has been a heat wave for nearly a week here in Nova Scotia, Canada. And it is predicted to continue through Wednesday. I am not sure what about you, but personally I am going to hide inside for as much as possible!

Well, with something super refreshing. Like this Lavender Milkshake.

Lavender Milkshake

To be completely honestly, I will not call a milkshake to be something ultra refreshing. It is a sugary drink, after all. But you cannot argue that a cold drink / dessert is already somewhat fresh. And cold, that’s for sure! And if cannot eat more ice cream (which sounds like an awfully impossible scenario to me!), then a milkshake is a great way to mix the things up!

This recipe calls for only three ingredients: milk, vanilla ice cream, and lavender syrup. When choosing ice cream, try finding the one which is not too sweet. Alternatively, you can swap lavender syrup for dried lavender buds, to make it less sweet. Just make sure to rub them between your fingers before adding to other ingredients. Lastly, a good splash of lemon or lime juice will make it more refreshing and balance out the sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 1 pint (about 400 gr. or 2 cups) vanilla ice cream

  • 1 cup (240 ml.) milk

  • 2-3 tbsp. (30-45 ml.) lavender syrup or ~1/2 tbsp. dried lavender buds

Directions

  • Let the ice cream sit out at room temperature until starting to soften, 10 to 15 minutes, for easy blending. In the meantime, chill the glasses in the fridge or even freezer.
  • Place in the cup of your blender the milk, lavender syrup (start with 2 tbsp.), and soften ice cream. If using the lavender buds instead of the syrup, rub them between your fingers first to make it fine.
  • Blend until the milkshake is smooth and pourable, about 40-60 seconds. Try and add more of the lavender syrup, if necessary. Divide the milkshake between the chilled glasses and enjoy right away!

  1. With you all the way! Awfully hot here; we’re under the heat cap that doesn’t move so this milkshake with hopefully help!

  2. As you know, I love lavender in just about anything (and so does Mark) so I know we will love this. Great for our summer heat!

  3. I am a big fan of floral flavours in food (tho I know not everyone is) so this sounds great to me Ben.

  4. The photos are stunning Ben!! And I love the addition of lavender to this milkshake. A perfect summer treat!

  5. We don’t make milkshakes very often around here. I honestly don’t know why. I even have milkshake glasses in the back of the cupboard! Guess I need to pull those out soon, huh? The floral twist to this treat is quite fun…and good for summer heatwaves!

  6. Your lavender milkshake looks wonderful. I love your presentations and I am quite a fan of lavender flavor. We used to have a large lavender plant in our front yard but then it just disappeared on season. Probably didn’t make it through the winter or the deer ate it all. We too near Philadelphia are having a brutal heat wave. Reached about 100 degrees today!!

  7. I cannot remember when I had a milkshake last, it’s been that long. But, if I were to have one, I would definitely choose this recipe, the lavender sounds wonderful.

  8. wow how creative and beautiful is this! Don’t think I have ever had a milkshake. Now I want to try it!
