Hey folks – I hope you all are doing well!

If you enjoy simple fizzy drinks with an unexpected twist, this recipe is for you. Orange soda already has plenty of sweet citrus flavour, while rose syrup gives it a beautiful floral aroma. And a little Triple Sec enhances the orange notes even more.

Better yet, you can easily turn this rose syrup soda into a creamy soda or an indulgent ice cream float. Or simply omit the Triple Sec for an equally delicious non-alcoholic version. So, let’s dive into this refreshing orange soda.

A Refreshing Rose Orange Soda

This rose orange soda requires only three main ingredients, yet the combination is surprisingly flavourful. It is sweet and citrusy, with an aromatic floral twist and plenty of refreshing fizz.

Sweet, Citrusy, and Floral

This orange soda drink definitely leans towards the sweeter side. However, the combination of citrus and floral flavours keeps it interesting rather than one-dimensional.

  • Sweet and citrusy. Orange soda provides the refreshing fizz and familiar citrus flavour.
  • Floral and aromatic. Rose syrup adds a distinctive floral note that makes this simple drink feel more sophisticated.
  • Extra orangey. Triple Sec reinforces the citrus flavour without making the drink strongly alcoholic.
  • Refreshing. Plenty of ice keeps this floral summer drink wonderfully cold and fizzy.

Since both orange soda and rose syrup are sweet, you do not need much syrup. Start with a small amount, then adjust it according to your preference.

Why Orange and Rose Syrup Work Together

Orange and rose make a lovely pairing because both ingredients are highly aromatic. However, their flavours are quite different, which creates an interesting contrast.

Orange is bright, fruity, and citrusy. Rose syrup, on the other hand, brings sweet floral notes. Together, they create a rose syrup drink that is familiar enough to be approachable yet unusual enough to feel special.

Triple Sec works particularly well here, too. It enhances the orange aroma and adds a little complexity without taking the focus away from the rose orange soda.

More Than Just an Orange Soda Drink

While the basic version is delicious and refreshing, you can easily transform the same rose-and-orange combination into two richer drinks.

  • Rose orange soda is fizzy, refreshing, and perfect over plenty of ice.
  • Rose orange cream soda adds heavy cream for a smoother and richer consistency.
  • Rose orange float uses vanilla ice cream for a creamy, dessert-like version.
  • Non-alcoholic version simply omits the Triple Sec. There is no need to replace it with another ingredient.

So, depending on your mood, the same simple combination can range from a refreshing summer soda to a decadent orange float.

Ingredients You’ll Need for Orange Soda with Rose Syrup

You will need only a few simple ingredients for this orange soda. Heavy cream and vanilla ice cream are optional, depending on which version you would like to make.

  • Orange soda. Use your favourite orange soda and make sure it is well chilled. Since it provides most of the volume and flavour, choose one you enjoy drinking on its own.
  • Rose syrup. Start with about 7–15 ml (1/4–1/2 oz), or adjust to taste. Both the syrup and soda are sweet, so you may find that a smaller amount is enough. How to Make Rose Syrup with Fresh Rose Petals.
  • Triple Sec (optional). A small splash enhances the orange flavour and makes the drink lightly alcoholic. You can simply omit it for an alcohol-free rose syrup soda.
  • Ice. Use plenty for the regular soda and cream soda versions.
  • Garnishes. Orange slices, fresh mint, or edible dried rosebuds or petals are all optional.

How to Make Rose Orange Soda

This rose syrup orange soda takes only a couple of minutes to assemble. Fill a serving glass generously with ice, then add the rose syrup and Triple Sec. Top with well-chilled orange soda and gently stir to combine.

Taste and adjust the rose syrup if necessary. Since different brands of orange soda and rose syrup vary considerably in sweetness, it is always better to start with less syrup and add more if desired. Garnish your refreshing orange drink with an orange slice, mint, or edible rose petals and serve immediately.

Two Delicious Rose Orange Soda Variations

The basic soda is light and fizzy, but you can make it richer in two different ways. Both options work beautifully with the combination of orange and rose.

Make It a Rose Orange Cream Soda

For a rose orange cream soda, add about 1–2 tbsp (15–30 ml) heavy cream to the basic drink. The cream softens the sweetness and creates a smoother, richer flavour while the soda remains pleasantly fizzy. Add the cream gradually and gently stir to combine. Heavy cream is the best choice here because its higher fat content gives the drink a richer consistency.

Keep in mind that orange soda is acidic. When you add heavy cream, it may thicken slightly or form tiny soft flecks as it reacts with the acidity. This is normal. The mixture may not look perfectly smooth at first, but it should become mostly smooth and creamy after gentle stirring.

For the best texture, use heavy cream rather than milk or a lower-fat dairy product. Add it gradually and stir gently until mostly combined. The finished orange cream soda should be creamy and lightly fizzy, although a little natural separation may occur as it sits.

Make It a Rose Orange Float

For an even richer variation, turn the soda into a rose orange float. Skip the regular ice and add one generous scoop of vanilla ice cream instead.

Slowly pour the orange soda mixture around the ice cream, as it will foam considerably. Vanilla works particularly well because it softens both the citrus and floral flavours, giving this orange soda float a creamsicle-like character with a subtle rose twist.

Make It Non-Alcoholic

Triple Sec adds another layer of orange flavour, but it is completely optional. Simply leave it out for a non-alcoholic version.

There is no need to replace it with anything else. Orange soda and rose syrup already provide plenty of citrus and floral flavour on their own.

How to Customize Your Rose Orange Soda

This rose syrup drink is easy to adjust depending on the sweetness of your ingredients and your preferred flavour balance.

  • Adjust the rose. Start with a small amount of rose syrup and add more to taste. You want the floral flavour to be noticeable without overwhelming the orange.
  • Tone down the sweetness. Add a splash of sparkling water or club soda if your orange soda or rose syrup is particularly sweet.
  • Boost the citrus. A small squeeze of fresh orange juice adds a fresher citrus note.
  • Adjust the Triple Sec. Keep it subtle for a lightly alcoholic drink or increase it slightly if you want a more pronounced orange flavour.
  • Change the richness. Use just a splash of heavy cream for a lighter orange cream soda or a little more for a richer version.
  • Dress it up. Orange slices, fresh mint, and edible rose petals all make lovely garnishes.
