Hey, folks! Hope you’re well and enjoying the late days of summer.

Today, I’m excited to share an early fall cocktail highlighting the rosehip, a classic autumn fruit.

What Are Rosehips? Are They Edible?

Rosehips are the seed-filled fruit of roses. These accessory fruits develop edible parts from the flower. Rosehips come in various sizes, colors, and flavors, offering foraging variety.

Rosehips are edible, but they can be tricky to prep due to the presence of irritating hairs and seeds that may cause skin or digestive issues. Wearing latex or nitrile gloves for handling them could be a good idea, especially if you have sensitive skin. And consume only the flesh, not seeds and hair.

Rosehip tastes sweet-tart or sweet-sour, similar to green apples or plums. Some varieties recall cranberry or hibiscus, generally offering floral, sweet, tangy notes.

What Is Special About This Orange Rosehip Rum Cocktail?

Now that you know a bit about rosehips, let’s talk about what makes the Orange Rosehip Rum Cocktail special.

This cocktail is both familiar and unique. Rum and orange liqueur are classics, but rosehip syrup adds a rounded sweetness and subtle tartness, providing a refreshing balance. It feels elegant yet comforting, makes a lovely surprise for guests or a treat for yourself, and boasts a cheerful color.

Wondering About the Taste Experience from the Orange Rosehip Rum Cocktail?

A first sip brings smooth, honeyed rum warmth, followed by lively citrus notes from the orange liqueur. Rosehip syrup is characterized by gentle tartness and a lingering, floral-fruity sweetness. Together, these create a layered, decadent yet crisp drink that invites you to slow down and savor.
