Hello everyone! Happy Halloween! I hope you’re ready.
We’re ready too. We’ve got the candy, and we didn’t manage to eat all of it (However, we are still considering getting another small bag. Just for any case.) Our decorations are up. Indeed, Andrew did a great job this year. Some of the installments weren’t the ready product but something he made himself, from many elements we had found at thrift stores. I suspect his plan is making those pure kids scared off, so we’d have all the candy to ourselves :)
Below there’s a few pictures. Can you find Daisy in one of them? :)
Rowan Berry Cocktail
And I totally understand it’s kind of too late for another Halloween recipe. I simply didn’t manage my time last week. On the other hand, it’s always good time for a new cocktail idea – especially on Monday! Besides, if you don’t pay attention to the Halloween vibe in the pictures, that’s a perfect cocktail you can enjoy all year round. Except for rowan berries. Sadly, they’re not too common, and many people don’t even realize you can eat them!
Back in September, I made this Rowan Berry Syrup which I lately used for this Rowan Berry Cocktail.
The natural pleasant bitterness of these berries makes them perfect for cocktails. If you like the addition of various bitters in your drinks, that would be quite similar. The flavour profile somewhat reminds Cinzano Vermouth Rose.
Even though it was my first cocktail with rowan berries, I believe they nicely pair with different strong spirits like whiskey or bourbon. I used rum – or specifically black spiced rum – which colour was perfect for a Halloween idea. You can definitely use any other type of rum, too.

You go all out for Halloween! I see that Daisy was keeping her distance from the spooky witches. ;) You are always introducing me to new things, Ben. I’ve never heard of rowan berries, but now I need to find them. This cocktail looks very tasty!
Monday is the perfect time to share a cocktail recipe! (Oh, who am I kidding? Any day is the perfect day for a cocktail recipe. Haha.) This one sounds delicious! Your decorations are awesome, Ben – compliments to Andrew on finding some really fun and creative ways to decorate. Creepy for sure! If I was in your area, I would totally have stopped by…if you still had candy left!

Wow, the Halloween decorations are really fantastic! All we have is one pumpkin. (GASP!) However, we live up a long set of stairs and nobody ever feels like climbing them. So we leave the bowl of candy at the bottom, which is of course gone in two minutes. Haha! In any case, it sounds much better to sit inside with your lovely, delicious cocktail. Your photos capture the holiday vibe perfectly. :-) ~Valentina
