Rose iced coffee is a refreshing floral drink made with chilled coffee, rose jam or syrup, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a creamy, lightly sweet finish. It offers a delicate balance of bold coffee flavour and soft botanical notes, creating a unique and elegant summer treat.
Hello, folks! How are you doing? I hope you all had a great weekend and are now ready for a new week. And to all my American readers, I hope you had a fantastic 4th of July and long weekend!
And now, please let me surprise you. Are you ready? There’s no cocktail recipe today. Shocking, I know!
No worries, though. I have plenty of recipes that I will be sharing with you soon. Stay tuned. In the meantime, there’s a non-alcoholic drink for all iced coffee lovers.
Why You’ll Love This Rose Iced Coffee
- Refreshing and cooling: Perfect for warm days when you want something cold and energizing.
- Floral twist: Subtle rose flavour adds a unique and elegant touch to classic iced coffee.
- Creamy texture: Vanilla ice cream creates a smooth, dessert-like finish.
- Easy to make: Simple ingredients with minimal effort.
- Versatile: Works with rose jam or syrup and can be adjusted to your preferred sweetness.
Rose Iced Coffee Flavour Profile
I know this Rose Iced Coffee may sound like a surprising combination. And it is, surely. (Although if you Google it, it is not THAT surprising at all.)
But somehow the combination of coffee and rose flavour works nicely. Well, technically, coffee and lavender are a popular combination (which I need to try yet), so why not the rose aroma?
In my opinion, a subtle floral aroma complements and balances out the acrid taste of coffee and gives the coffee a smooth finish. Needless to say, vanilla ice cream adds creaminess and richness.
Ingredients You’ll Need for Rose Iced Coffee
You will need the following ingredients for this recipe:
- Strong, freshly brewed coffee of your choice – that’s the base of this recipe. I recommend the coffee that tastes mild and not too acrid. But you can go with your favourite coffee.
- Vanilla ice cream – works as a sweetener and also enriches the texture and flavour.
- Rose jam or rose syrup – adds sweetness and a subtle floral aroma. You don’t need to make jam as you can find many brands online. And if you prefer to avoid extra sweetener, you can completely omit the jam or syrup and only add a few drops of rose water (not rose essence or extract as they are more potent).
Possible Additions
While this coffee is already delicious, you can play with its flavour profile. Some possible options include:
- Vanilla – a little vanilla extract or vanilla seeds will add a smooth and pleasant finish.
- Swap rose jam for strawberry or raspberry jam or syrup (or use the combination of rose and berry flavours). The fruity notes will complement and balance out the bitterness of coffee.
- Add a little ground cardamom, which goes exceptionally well with both coffee and roses.
- Add a little of hard liquor like vodka, rum, brandy, or even Amaretto for a fun boozy twist.
