Hey, folks — today we’re giving the classic mojito a gentle floral spin. If you love the combination of mint and lime but enjoy softer, aromatic flavours, this version is a lovely change of pace. It’s quick to make, beautifully balanced, and perfect for warm-weather sipping. So, let’s dive into this Lavender Mojito.

Why You’ll Love This Lavender Mojito Cocktail

  • Fresh and refreshing: Mint and lime keep the drink crisp and cooling.
  • Subtle floral notes: Lavender adds aroma without overpowering the classic mojito profile.
  • Light and easy-drinking: Balanced sweetness with a clean finish.
  • Perfect for summer: Ideal for patios, garden parties, and relaxed entertaining.
  • Simple to make: No shaking required, just gentle muddling and stirring.

Does Lavender Go Well in a Mojito?

Yes – beautifully.

Lavender works especially well in mojitos because mint, lime, and lavender naturally complement each other. Mint keeps the cocktail bright and cooling, while lavender adds gentle floral complexity.

This combination works especially well because:

  • Lime balances floral sweetness.
  • Mint keeps the cocktail fresh and refreshing.
  • Lavender adds aromatic depth without overpowering the drink.
  • Rum softens and rounds out the herbal flavours beautifully.

The result feels elegant and summery while still preserving the refreshing character of a classic mojito.

Why Lavender Works So Well in Cocktails

Lavender pairs naturally with many classic cocktail ingredients, especially citrus, herbs, honey, and botanical spirits.

Some especially good combinations include:

  • Lavender and lemon.
  • Lavender and lime.
  • Lavender and mint.
  • Lavender and rum.
  • Lavender and gin.

When used carefully, lavender enhances cocktails with aromatic complexity rather than making them taste overly floral.

What Does a Lavender Mojito Taste Like?

This lavender mojito cocktail tastes bright, minty, citrusy, lightly floral, and refreshing.

The flavour profile includes:

  • Cooling fresh mint.
  • Bright lime acidity.
  • Gentle floral lavender notes.
  • Smooth rum warmth.

Compared to a traditional mojito, the lavender version feels slightly softer, more aromatic, and a little more elegant while remaining refreshing and easy to drink.

Is This Mojito Best for Summer?

Absolutely.

This floral mojito is especially good for:

  • Hot summer evenings.
  • Garden parties.
  • Patio drinks.
  • BBQs and entertaining.
  • Tropical-inspired summer menus.

Because it combines mint, lime, rum, and lavender, the lavender mojito cocktail feels cooling, refreshing, and vibrant without becoming overly sweet or heavy.

Ingredients You’ll Need for This Lavender Mojito

To make this lavender cocktail, you will need the following ingredients:

  • White rum â€“ the base spirit of a mojito. Any good quality and not too expensive rum will do. Don’t use dark or spiced rum for this mojito, as it will overpower the floral notes.
  • Lime juice â€“ freshly squeezed lime juice provides the tartness and citrusy notes that perfectly complement the other flavors.
  • Fresh mint â€“ muddled fresh mint adds a cool, refreshing herbal element.
  • Lavender Simple Syrup Recipe – works as a sweetener and flavour modifier. To make the syrup, you will need water, granulated sugar, dried lavender buds, and a few blueberries (optional, for added colour).
  • Club soda or sparkling water â€“ optional, for topping.
  • Ice cubes â€“ for chilling and serving.
  • extra lime wedges, lavender sprig, and mint sprigs â€“ for garnish.

What Rum Works Best in a Lavender Mojito Cocktail?

White rum is usually the best choice because it keeps the cocktail crisp, refreshing, and bright.

Some especially good options include:

  • Light white rum.
  • Crisp Cuban-style rum.
  • Slightly grassy agricole-style rum for a more herbal profile.

Darker or heavily spiced rums can sometimes overpower the more delicate lavender flavour.

How to Make a Lavender Mojito

To make this Lavender Mojito, gently muddle the mint leaves with the lavender simple syrup in a shaker until fragrant, then stir in the rum and lime juice until well combined. Taste and adjust the balance if needed, pour over ice in a glass, top with sparkling water or club soda if desired, garnish with lime wheels and fresh mint, and enjoy immediately.

Can You Make a Frozen Mojito?

Absolutely.

This lavender mojito cocktail works wonderfully as a frozen summer drink. Simply blend the cocktail with ice until slushy and refreshing.

Frozen versions are especially good for:

  • Very hot weather.
  • Summer parties.
  • Patio entertaining.
  • Poolside drinks.

You may want to slightly increase the lime juice or lavender syrup to compensate for dilution from the ice.

  2. True to form you’ve created another stunning and refreshing cocktail and I really am a mojito lover. Can’t wait to try this one.

  3. Your photos are really and truly extraordinary! I just stopped by for the view. I’m one of those old weirdos who don’t like flowers in stuff other than my garden, and my vases. I have tried a botanical gin – G’Vine – that I liked, but just one gin and tonic and that was enough for me. I wish I liked lavender ice cream, but I can think of hundreds of flavors I’d choose before that. But your photos are sensational!!!

You come up with such clever recipes, Ben! This mojito is beautiful and sounds absolutely wonderful!

  5. Haha – you guessed correctly, Ben! I had the grill going almost every day this past weekend. The only day I didn’t turn it on was because I had the smoker going instead. :-) (It was the first time this year we’d made ribs.) I love the color of this cocktail! And the herbal tones would be quite nice in a drink. You know I don’t often go to lavender in foods, but in drinks I could see this working quite well! Cheers!
