Hello, folks! How are you doing? I hope you all had a great and productive week, and you are ready for the weekend. Are you making anything delicious?
Also, it is official now – happy spring! We made it to spring! But to be fair, happy autumn to everyone in the Southern Hemisphere!
Anyway, whatever season you celebrate today, let’s enjoy a tasty cocktail. We deserve it, don’t we?
Pomegranate Brandy Cocktail
This Pomegranate Brandy Cocktail is ridiculously easy to make, and it is so much fun to enjoy.
I had wanted to make a pomegranate martini for a while, but it’s not always easy to find real pomegranate juice (and not so-called pomegranate drink).
So one day when I was thinking about how to utilize a little of Andrew’s brandy (no worries, though – he got his payment; this cocktail), on the spur of the moment, I decided to try using pomegranate molasses, which I love and always have in the kitchen. I know, I could have juiced some pomegranate arils, but it would not have been that much fun.
Sweet and sour at the same time and so luscious!
Cocktail Components
Brandy is the foundation of this cocktail. You can choose your favourite brand, but I would suggest the one with subtle fruity notes. If you don’t like brandy, other spirits would work. Think of whiskey, light rum, vodka, or even gin.
Triple sec (orange liqueur) works as a balancing agent, helping to balance the flavors of brand, as well as adding sweetness.
Pomegranate molasses gives the flavour as well as works as the sweetener. And it gives a stunning colour to this cocktail!
Bitters (an optional ingredient) work as a modifier, adding complexity. While this component is optional, a few drops will elevate this martini to another, more sophisticated flavour. I used Blackstrap Bitters.
Honey (optional) adds additional sweetness if the cocktail requires more sweetness to your taste.

This Pomegranate Brandy Cocktail is an elegant, refreshing, and delicious cocktail with a complex flavour profile. And it includes a surprising ingredient – pomegranate molasses.
Ingredients
1 1/2 oz. (45 ml) brandy
1 oz. (30 ml) orange liqueur such as Triple Sec, Cointreau, or Grand Marnier
1 tbsp. (20 g) pomegranate molasses
1-2 drops of bitters, optional – I used Blackstrap Bitters
honey, optional, as needed
pomegranate arils and fresh thyme, optional, for garnish
Directions
- Combine the brandy, orange liquor, pomegranate molasses, bitters (if using), and ice. Shake for 30 seconds to blend, try, and adjust the taste (i.e., an additional splash of brandy or pomegranate molasses), if necessary. While the cocktail is quite sweet, you may want to add a little of honey, too. Filter and discard the ice. Enjoy!

Hi – I’m Ben, a blogger, recipe developer, and food photographer. I’m glad you’re here! I hope you will enjoy hundreds of delicious recipes and a pinch of havoc in the kitchen.
I love that you’ve suggested different spirit alternatives for those who might prefer something else, like me as I dont have brandy on hand, just gin and vodka which I think will work well on these too!
Thank you, Raymund!

You know, we don’t drink a lot of brandy around here. Bourbon? That’s a different story! We have a lot of bourbons that are finished in old brandy casks, though. I wonder if I could use one of those here??
