This Frozen Mango Passion Fruit Cocktail is a luscious, sweet, and refreshing cocktail. Enjoy this tropical and happy drink on a hot summer day!
Jump to RecipeHey folks – how are you doing? Did you all have a lovely weekend?
Our weekend was nice despite the weather. Nova Scotia experienced a heat wave, so spent most of the days hiding in the basement. Well, somehow I managed to make and photograph eight recipes – yes eight. (In my excuse, I was also off on Friday, so eight recipes are not that many.) Besides, no actual cooking was involved as I focused on drinks – cocktails, milkshakes (boozy), and lemonades. Plus the sorbet (Which is technically liquid as well.)
However, today I am sharing another unpublished recipe from last summer. Yeah, so far I have been sharing mostly recipes prepared last year. So, ladies and gentlemen, please let me introduce you this Frozen Mango Passion Fruit Cocktail!
Frozen Mango Passion Fruit Cocktail
Here it is. It is irresistibly tasty, if shortly.
It is a light and fruity cocktail which a relatively high ratio of fruit to alcohol. That is why Andrew named it a smoothie :) Certainly, you can increase the amount of alcohol, if desired. To make this drink, you will need the following ingredients:
– Rum
– Mango pure, either from fresh fruit or canned
– Passion fruit pulp, either from fresh fruit or canned / packed
– Fresh lime or lemon juice
– Honey, optionally (You may want to add a bit of sweetener in case fresh passion fruits are tart.)
Normally, when it comes to a frozen cocktail, you will simply whizz all ingredients with ice resulting the consistency resembling a slushy. Here I suggest you to make the cocktail without any ice and then freeze for up to an hour or so. Yes, it is a tad longer process, but you will like the result. I mean who needs lots of ice that will dilute the cocktail, right?!

Ingredients
1/2 cup mango pure, either from fresh fruit or canned
1/2 cup passion fruit pulp, either from fresh fruit or canned / packed (I used mostly honey-sweetened pulp plus one fresh fruit)
1/3 cup of rum of your choice (for light version) or 1/2 cup for a stronger
juice of 1 or 2 limes
honey or other sweetener, optional and to taste
Directions
- In a cup of your blender combine the mango pure (or mango chunks), passion fruit pulp, rum, and lime juice. Pulse it a couple of times until combined. Try and adjust the taste by adding more of lime juice or/and honey.
- Transfer the mixture to a container – or keep it in the blender’s cup if its material if safe for freezing – and freeze for about one hour or longer.
- Serve it in chilled glasses, garnished as desired. The cocktail is quite thick so you may even serve it as a dessert, with a dessert spoon. But it will become more drinkable within 5 minutes out of the freezer. Enjoy!

Never have thought to combine mango with passion fruit for drink, must say. Since this summer is totally crazy hot here, this is such a refreshing and new thing to try. Thank you Ban and I wish you enjoy your day!

Ben, this beautiful cocktail is perfect for us . We are mango lovers, rum is my alcohol of choice and its so hot here that a frozen cocktail is just what we need.
It sounds like you had quite a productive weekend with eight recipes – that’s impressive!

Now this is a FUN summer cocktail!!! Perfect for sipping on a hot day!
Wow, this sounds like a tropical paradise in drink form! Perfect for a heat wave. I like the idea of making a frozen version but serving it in a martini glass. I wish we could find actual passion fruit around here. I can get the pulp, so I can make this recipe – but the actual fruit on top is a great garnish! Perhaps I need to hunt a little harder…
