Lilac Honey Vanilla Martini Cocktail

Hello, folks! How are you doing? I hope you are having a nice and restful weekend!

Today, I am excited to share another lilac-infused cocktail with you. If you live where lilacs are already blooming, perhaps, you can enjoy this martini this weekend.

Lilac Honey Vanilla Cocktail

This Lilac Honey Vanilla Cocktail is a delightful and light drink for everyone who loves fruity and delicate cocktails. It is made with  Lilac Sugar. By the way, the recipe suggests an express method that does not require infusing sugar for days. Alternatively, you can use Lilac Syrup, but keep in mind that the cocktail will be sweeter, so you may want to omit honey or add more lemon juice. Besides lilac sugar, you will need the following ingreients:

  • Vanilla vodka – base spirit of this cocktail. If vanilla vodka is not available, you can use regular and add a little of vanilla bean seeds or real vanilla extract.
  • Limoncello – adds the sweetness and modifies the flavour profile.
  • Honey – just a little for a warming touch of honey.
  • Lemon juice – balances out the sweetness.
  • Vanilla bean, scraped seeds – optional but it adds a luxurious touch and adds a more pronounced vanilla aroma.
  • Ice, for chilling and serving.

How to Customize This Cocktail

You can customize it, too. If you don’t have vanilla vodka, regular will work, too, but be sure to use a little vanilla seeds in this case. If you can find honey vodka, it will be an excellent choice, too!

If you don’t have or like vodka, swap for light or gin with a less juniper-forward aroma. Just be sure to pick a spirit that is neutral in flavour, otherwise it will overpower the subtle floral aroma (e.g. don’t pick spiced rum or bourbon).

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. (60 ml.) Vanilla vodka – or use regular

  • 1/2 oz. (15 ml.) limoncello

  • 1/2 oz. (15 ml.) lemon juice

  • 1-2 tbsp. (15-30 g.) lilac infused sugar

  • 1/2 tbsp. (10 g.) honey

  • 1 small piece (i.e., 1 cm) vanilla bean, split and seeds scraped – you can omit if using vanilla vodka

  • 1-2 fresh blueberries, smashed or a little drop of blueberry jam – optional, for colour. If not using, the drink will have a yellowish hue.

  • a handful of ice cubes

Directions

  • In a shaker combine the vodka, Limoncello, lilac sugar, honey, lemon juice, vanilla seeds (if using), smashed blueberries (if using), and ice. Shake vigorously for about 30-40 seconds, until the sugar has dissolved. Try and adjust the taste by adding more of lilac sugar, lemon juice, or alcohol.
  • Filter the cocktail for a stronger version or serve over ice, but keep in mind that an additional ice will dilute already delicate and light cocktail even further.
