Sautéed  Honey Figs with Lavender: Flavour Profile

Lavender Honey Sautéed Figs blend sweet, floral, and buttery flavours. Figs turn soft, jammy, and caramelized. Honey adds rich sweetness and a golden glaze. Lavender brings a subtle floral note. A pinch of salt balances flavors. Butter helps figs caramelize while staying juicy inside.

Ingredients You’ll Need for This Recipe:

  • Fresh Figs: Provide natural sweetness and a soft, tender texture when cooked.
    • Choose plump, soft figs with smooth, slightly wrinkled skin. Deep color signals ripeness. They should yield slightly but not be overly soft or mushy. Avoid bruised or cracked figs.
  • Dried Lavender: Infuses delicate floral notes and enhances the sweetness of the figs.
  • Honey: Adds luscious sweetness and creates a golden glaze as it caramelizes.
  • Butter: Adds rich texture, helps caramelize figs, and gives a silky finish.
  • Salt: Just a pinch balances sweetness and deepens flavor.

Ingredients

  • 8-10 fresh figs, halved or quartered

  • 2 tbsp. (30 g) butter

  • 2-3 tbsp. (40-60 g) honey

  • 1/2 tsp. (2 g) dried lavender buds, finely minced

  • a pinch of salt (optional)

Directions

  • Add the butter to a skillet, preferably a heavy-bottomed one, and melt it over low-medium heat.
  • Next, pour the honey, lavender, and salt (if using). Let the mixture simmer for about 2 minutes to thicken slightly.
  • Now, place the figs in the sauce. Simmer, gently flipping them, for a few minutes until soft and caramelized. Cooking time depends on the ripeness, but it should not take more than 4-5 minutes, or even less, if the fruit is very ripe. Remember, after the turning heat off, the figs will continue to cook from the residual heat.
  • Turn off the heat. Serve the figs warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
