My New Obsession

Hello everyone – cheers! Oh I mean, happy Friday! Are you excited about this weekend? Shall we celebrate with something tasty? How about this Blueberry Lime Martini Cocktail?

Indeed, I am having a new obsession this summer – cocktail ideas. So far I have shared already two ideas: this Lilac Martini Vermouth Cocktail and then Raspberry Lilac Martini Cocktail. Besides this new blueberry cocktail, I will have at least 5 other ideas to share with you. That’s as of today. Most likely, I will have even more ideas (Because summer just started haha.) I hope you won’t mind!

Blueberry Lime Martini Cocktail

In the meantime, let’s enjoy this lovely Blueberry Lime Martini Cocktail. As you can see, it’s very simple yet flavourful. Fresh blueberries can sometimes taste bland and boring in recipes, but that’s not the case here. Maple syrup adds some sweetness (honey or even simple syrup will work too) while lime juice adds the freshness.

Dessert Cocktail

You can also easily adjust the ratio of maple syrup and lime juice to martini vermouth, depending on how zesty or sweet you want this cocktail. You can even skip the maple syrup, if your berries are sweet enough. This version, as noted earlier, is light and sweet, but my husband added an extra splash (a very generous splash!) of martini to his glass. No biggie! Mix, shake, try, and adjust :)

I hope you like this Blueberry Lime Martini Cocktail, and you will it a try soon! If you make it, let me know in this post or send me an Instagram message or share you photos adding the hashtag #havocinthekitchen.

Cheers to Friday and the weekend!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup (35 g.) fresh blueberries (can substitute blackberries or raspberries)

  • juice of 1/2 lime or to taste

  • 1 tbsp. (15 ml.) maple syrup or to taste

  • 2 oz. (60 ml.) extra dry martini vermouth

  • 1 oz. (30 ml.) gin or white rum

  • 1/2 cup ice, crushed

  • mint, lime, and extra blueberries, for garnish

Directions

  • Combine the blueberries, lime juice, and maple syrup and process until pureed using a blender or immersion blender. Try and adjust the sweetness or tartness.
  • In a shaker, combine the blueberry pure (See notes), dry martini vermouth, and ice. Shake about 30 seconds to combine. Try and adjust to your liking by adding more of martini or lime, if needed.
  • Filter the cocktail for a stronger version or serve with some ice, but keep in mind that an additional ice will dilute already delicate and light cocktail even further. Enjoy!

Notes

  • This ratio yields in a light, sweet, almost a dessert-like cocktail. You can mix 1/2 of the blueberry pure with other ingredients first, and then add the remaining, if desired. You can also add a splash of another hard liquor like gin, for a stronger version.
