Hello folks – how are you doing?
I hope you have had a great and enjoyable weekend! And for those who live in Canada or the United States (I am quite sure a few other countries would be on this list): happy Labour Day, and I hope you are having a wonderful long weekend. Cheers to that :)
Lavender Limoncello Frozen Cocktail
This delightful Lavender Limoncello Frozen Cocktail was born last year nearly accidentally. I had planned to make a simple cocktail made with gin, Limoncello, and lavender syrup. And when I was already making it, I finally realized I already had something very similar. Luckily, I had in the freezer a container for ice cream maker. So, I immediately decided to turn this into a frozen cocktail.
My friends, this turned out to be one of the loveliest cocktails that I have shared on this blog so far. To rephrase the saying, sometimes the best recipes in life are unplanned!
This recipe calls for gin, Limoncello, lavender syrup, and lemon juice. Yes, it is quite sweet, but thanks to the addition of lemon juice, it is still refreshing and pleasantly sweet and sour. The beautiful colour is the result of using Empress 1908 Gin which changes the colour, depending on pairings. (I also add a few blueberries when making lavender syrup, for a pleasant hue.) If you use any regular gin, the colour will be different, but the taste will still be great. By the way, as gins have different flavour profiles, depending on your preference, there cocktail’s flavour will always be slightly different.
lastly, it is important to note that thanks to the high content of alcohol, this cocktail will never freeze completely, like a sorbet. The use of ice cream maker helps archive a smoother consistency. If you do not have it, you can simply transfer the mixture into a container and freeze for a few hours. The consistency will be different, icy and less smooth, more resembling partly set granita.

30 minutesThis Lavender Limoncello Frozen Cocktail is made with gin, Limoncello, lavender syrup, and fresh lemon juice a perfect summer cocktail for warm days.
Ingredients
2 oz. (60 ml.) dry gin
2 oz. (60 ml.) Limoncello
1 oz. (30 ml.) fresh lemon juice
1 oz. (30 ml.) lavender syrup
Directions
- Combine all ingredients together. Try and adjust the flavours (i.e., more lemon juice or lavender) to your preference.
- Transfer the mixture in a chilled cup of your ice cream maker and proceed as recommended in your manufacturer’s instructions, usually churning lasts between 20 and 30 minutes.
- You can enjoy the cocktail right away, but for the firmer result, transfer the mixture in a container and freeze for about 45 minutes.
- If you do not have ice cream maker, combine all the ingredients and transfer the mixture in a container. Place it the freezer and leave it there for about 3-4 hours, until the desired consistency.
- While the cocktail is in the freezer, place the serving glasses in the freezer to chill as well, for 20-30 minutes.
- Serve, garnish as desired, and enjoy right away! (It will be melting very quickly.)

Haha – I’ve totally done the same thing with recipes, too, Ben! Good way to pivot and come up with a new idea. Lavender and limoncello would indeed go well together. Pass me a glass!
