This Chipotle Tuna Spread is an easy recipe with only several simple ingredients. And this protein-packed spread will be ready in 5 minutes.
Hello, folks! How are you doing? I hope you all had a great weekend and are now ready for a new week.
And if you are looking for an easy and nutritious recipe to help you go through the week, you should make this Chipotle Tuna Spread!
Chipotle Tuna Spread
It’s even kind of embarrassing to call this a recipe. It’s THAT easy. Basically, you need to combine all ingredients together and mash everything using an immersion blender. Easy-peasy!
As for the list of ingredients, it is short, too. Besides tinned tuna, you will need canned chipotles in adobo sauce, Greek yogurt, and fresh thyme. Optionally, you can add a pinch of smoked paprika for a more pronounced smoky flavour.
And, of course, you can customize the recipe. Swap tuna for tinned sardines or salmon. Use other herbs like chives, dill, or parsley. Be sure to adjust the heat from the adobo sauce to your liking, too. If you prefer a mild flavour, use less adobo sauce and more yogurt.
How to Choose Canned Tuna
To choose good canned tuna, look for firm pieces with a fresh smell, avoiding the contents with a metallic odor and mushy texture. While I normally prefer solid pieces, flaked tuna will be a good choice for this recipe.
Also, I always stick to low-sodium and water-packed tuna as it’s a healthier option. And you can also rinse your tuna to reduce the sodium content, as well as excess of brine or oil.

Thank you, Eva!
Wow – so unique, Ben! I havent ever had tuna with chipotle, I love this flavor combo – 5 ingredients and 5 minutes to make, makes this my kinda lunch!
Thank you, Shashi!
Adding chipotle pepper in adobo sauce is such a great idea. You’ve definitely upgraded the traditional (i.e. boring) tuna salad! I’ll give it a try soon. Thanks for the inspiration. :)
Thank you, Ronit!
Fantastic way to add so much flavor to tuna, which admittedly could use a kick of flavor sometimes! Always have dried adobos on hand, so will have to make this!
Thank you, Michelle!
I will publish a tuna spread tomorrow but different from yours!
Thank you, Julia!
We don’t have tinned chipotle in adobo sauce here…I think chipotle chilli flakes will do? Canned tuna can be delicious if prepared right. Your spread looks great!
Thank you, Angie!
We don’t get canned Chipotle here but I could use sriracha sauce?
Yes, I think you can use it. Or – chipotle powder plus more yogurt.
Wow — what a great recipe, Ben. Love all the ingredients and it’s perfect way for me to use my homemade chipotles in adobo. Thanks!
Thank you, David!
