These raw Bourbon Date Pecan Truffles are irresistibly chewy, delicious, and boozy. Better than traditional chocolate truffles!
Hello everyone. I hope you’re doing very well. After all, it’s Thursday, and we can see light at the end of the tunnel (I mean Friday, obviously!) Just kidding – it’s been a nice week so far. Still, who does not need some indulgence for your Friday night?
Indeed, I realized I haven’t shared any sweet recipe for a while. Since February 22, specifically. So let’s enjoy these Bourbon Date Pecan Truffles for a change!
This year, I have been on a raw truffles kick. So far, I have shared only one recipe for these Healthy Prune Walnut Candy, but there will be few more delightful ideas.
Are Healthy Truffles Really Healthy?
Let’s get it straight, though. While you can often hear “healthy” describing raw truffles, that’s not entirely accurate. Yes, they are refined sugars-free which is a great thing. They are also packed with protein and dietary fiber. However, keep in mind that they contain lots of fruit sugar and fats. I didn’t look into this matter, but I believe that in terms of sugar, calorie, and fat content, these raw truffles could easily offer much more that traditional chocolate truffles.
As always, the name could be quite deceiving. You get a dairy-free and refined-sugar free dessert, but you will get fruit sugar instead. You get more healthy fats, protein, and fiber, but the calorie intake could be much bigger. The bottom line? Moderation, as always.
Honestly, moderation isn’t our thing. We are rarely able to stretch a dessert for a couple of days or freeze it. We see it – we need to make it disappear soon! lol. Not the best thing, I know. So while I love all these raw truffles, I now make a batch no often that twice a month, so this doesn’t hurt too much. You can always divide this recipe in half, especially if you have never tried raw truffles. 10 balls are more than enough!
Bourbon Date Pecan Truffles
Back to these Bourbon Date Pecan Truffles! Do you already feel how delicious they are?! The combination of bourbon, pecans, and coconut is quite traditional and favourite, and I must admit it’s scrumptious. I was not too shy with the bourbon, so it hits you right away. I don’t meant it knocks you down, but you will feel right away the warming bourbon notes. Needless to say, the texture profile is here too! But addictive, trust me.
I hope you like these Bourbon Date Pecan Truffle, and you will give them a try soon. Have a lovely weekend.
Cheers for now.
You make such a great point Ben about even the healthier desserts being calorically dense. I think that’s often overlooked. And you are so right, it all comes down to moderation. And I can tell by looking at your delicious Bourbon Date Pecan truffles that I would have a very difficult time not eating the whole batch in one sitting! Wow these look delicious! Excellent flavor combo here. 😋
What a delicious combo you have going on here, Ben. I’m so okay with combining some guilty pleasures with healthy ingredients. These truffles strike just the right balance as far as I’m concerned. The flavor and texture sounds amazing. Can’t wait to try!
I love anything made with dates, and these are just lovely treat! I like how you combine bourbon and pecans. I love how you did for food styling, too. Lovely!
Listen, if it’s refined sugar free AND high in healthy fats, protein, and fiber I’m calling it healthy! ;) These truffles look absolutely FABULOUS, Ben!! You know I’m a sucker for anything with bourbon in it! I could definitely make these disappear in .2 seconds flat! Gimme all the truffles to celebrate the weekend, please!
I hear ya about desserts and making them disappear, Ben! That’s why the curling club was always so helpful – I had an easy way to make desserts disappear so they wouldn’t be sitting there staring at me in the kitchen.
I love the flavors you’ve used in these truffles…especially the bourbon! Bourbon and pecans go so well together. I know I would love these – especially if they are served with a glass of bourbon!
Wow, these look terrific. Love combining bourbon and pecans. Add dates and coconut into the mix, and the result is this beautiful recipe. Thanks!
