Jump to RecipeHello folks – how are you doing? I hope you had a nice weekend! And to my Canadian readers: I hope you are enjoying this long weekend; happy Canada!
If you have been following my blog for a while, you may know that I am a huge fan of light and fruity cocktails, especially those that contain mashed fruits or berries. Just like Strawberry Mojito, Blueberry Gin Cocktail, Blackberry Lavender Cocktail, or Blackberry Tarragon Cocktail. Andrew calls this kind of cocktails smoothie, and in fact this is the only type smoothie he never refuses :)
What is a Daiquiri?
The daiquiri is a cocktail whose main ingredients are rum, citrus (typically lime) juice, and sugar or other sweetener. There are few variations including famous Hemingway daiquiri (made with grapefruit juice and maraschino liquor), Mulata daiquiri (with an addition of chocolate or coffee liquor), and frozen daiquiris.
Blackberry Daiquiri
Blackberry Daiquiri is a twist on a classic strawberry daiquiri. It is made with light rum, fresh lime juice, fresh blackberries, and a bit of simple syrup (or sugar). While it is not a traditional ingredient, I also added a tad of orange liquor. It adds some complexity and sweetness, and it pairs so nicely with blackberries. I know some recipes also call for an addition of fresh ginger, which I think would be nice here.
To make this cocktail, you will need to pulse together blackberries with sugar using a blender; although mortar and pestle would work, too.

Ben! Blackberries were on a crazy good sale yesterday in the store, and I bought 6 containers. 6! I’m planning on making a cobbler but I bet I could steal a few away and make a daquiri, too. This sounds delicious!
