Seaweed Salad
With days getting warmer, I will be sharing with you more salads and appetizers for spring time. Light yet filling. Just like this Seaweed Salad.
Who loves seaweed, please raise your hand? We do! And while you don’t see seaweed salad with additions too often, we love to make more substantial versions – good enough as the entire lunch or dinner dish. Thus, I often add hard-boiled eggs, seafood (Like smoked oysters), and even crab imitation sticks. Indeed, those crab sticks are the best with seaweeds, in my book. Vegetables like sweet peppers, cucumbers, and even canned green peas work very well, too.
Seaweed Salad with Smoked Salmon
Since the seaweed salad I used was already with dressing, I didn’t need anything else! Otherwise, you can make an easy sauce with sesame oil, say sauce, rice vinegar, and some spices like ginger and garlic. Just check on the Internet for some ideas.
There’s something wonderful and harmonious in the combination of seaweeds, smoked salmon, bell peppers, and hard-boiled eggs. Well, a good seaweed salad might not really need anything except the dressing and toasted sesame seeds. But I encourage you to add few extra elements – juts like I am suggesting in this recipe.
I hope you like this Seaweed Salad with Smoked Salmon, and you will give it a try soon. If you try it, let me know in this post or send me an Instagram message or share you photos adding the hashtag #havocinthekitchen.

Seaweed Salad with Smoked Salmon
Course: Salads, Main4
servings10
minutesThis Seaweed Salad with Smoked Salmon is a tasty recipe for all seaweed lovers. 4 servings as the main course.
Ingredients
~ 400 gr. ready to eat seaweed salad (with sesame oil or other dressing)
5-6 eggs, hard-boiled, peeled, and chopped
~250 gr. smoked salmon, torn into small pieces
1 bell pepper (or use two or three different colours – 1/2 or 1/3 each) – seeded, cored, and cubed
1-2 tbsp. sesame seeds, toasted
Directions
- Simply combine in a bowl seaweed salad, hard-boiled eggs, smoked salmon, and bell pepper. Since the salad already contains the dressing, you don’t need anything else. If your salad is not dressed, you should make some by combining soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and some spices like ginger and garlic. You can find many recipes on the Internet.
- Enjoy the salad right away or refrigerated. I prefer the second option. The salad will be fine for up to 3-4 days refrigerated. Enjoy!

My hand is up! ;-) I love seaweed. This recipe sounds amazing with the smoked salmon and egg — and like all of your recipes, it’s so pretty. And I love light main course salads that can also be hearty and satisfying. ~Valentina

I adore seaweed salad and order it every time I get sashimi at our neighborhood restaurant. I’ve never tried making it myself, but you’ve inspired me with your beautiful dish!

What a great idea, Ben! I’ve only had seaweed salad in simple forms before…never as the base to a full meal. This definitely needs to happen in our house! I also love all things smoked, so the smoked salmon caught me eye. Same with the smoked oysters! Speaking of oysters, have you ever had grilled oysters? They’re yummy – and you have a grill now!!

Nope, I haven’t had grilled oysters – need to give it a try! Thank you David!
We can harvest seaweed here, with a permit. But it’s not sold commercially. This sounds very good Ben.
