Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well, and you all had a lovely and cozy holiday.
But while Christmas is over, the holiday season is not yet. We still have a New Year’s Eve to celebrate. And for us the unofficial end date is January 2nd which is Andrew’s birthday. As you see, there’s still a plenty of reasons to celebrate.
Also, this is my last post of 2022, so we need something very special for the End of the Year Wrap Up and New Year’s Eve celebration! Cocktail – or Mimosa to be precise – perfectly fits the bill.
Mimosa
Most of you, I believe, are familiar with this refreshing cocktail. A mimosa cocktail is composed of champagne or prosecco and chilled citrus juice, usually orange. You don’t need to use expensive champagne – good quality but not too expensive champagne or sparkling wine will do. Prosecco is an excellent choice, too. While you can use store-bought orange juice, I would recommend freshly squeezed. Since it’s the beginning of blood orange season, you can use them, too.
Orange liquor such as Cointreau or Grand Marnier is a common addition, too. Of course it is optional, but in my opinion it makes this cocktail flavour more complex.
The classic ratio is 1:1 (champagne to juice), but please feel free to adjust to your liking. Plus a generous splash of orange liquor, if desired. Other than that, this cocktail is a breeze to make.

What a pretty cocktail. We mostly drink Mimosas as brunch but since you’ve made them so festive, why not for New Years? Hope you and your partner have a happy and healthy new year.
Looks great! . I am sure its taste is amazing. Happy and healthy 2023.
You can go wrong with mimosas! Such a festive, bubbly cocktail. Wishing you and Andrew a happy and healthy new year! (And Happy Birthday to Andrew, today!!)
I love a mimosa! I love to make them with prosecco. I’ve never tried using freshly-squeezed juice, though! That’s a great idea. Thanks for the links to all the variations, too! Happy New Year!
Love both the flavour and the warm colour! Happy New Year to you and yours, Ben.
