This Maple Fig Jam is moderately sweet, fresh, and easy to make – much better than any store-bought jam. Don’t miss the season of cheap figs and make this seasonal recipe!
Jump to RecipeHello everyone! Hopefully you are doing well. I’m fine, too, although my attempts to return to my blogging routine are not so easy!
But I’m finally here with my first fall recipe. Before I talk about this recipe, please don’t forget to check my two travel posts, if you haven’t seen them yet:

Maple Fig Jam
Now, who loves figs, please rise your hands? September and October, besides apples and pumpkins is the season of figs. Definitely, you can find them throughout other months of the year, but they are the most delicious now, in my humble opinion. And most importantly, they’re probably the cheapest you can find these days.
As you can see, this Maple Fig Jam is made with maple syrup instead of sugar. Thus, it is not overly sweet. Lemon juice also adds the freshness and balances the sweetness. And if you have a vanilla bean, you can use it – the result would be wonderful. If you don’t have it, you can use a little of good quality vanilla extract instead.
I checked few similar recipes, and they claimed no pectin would require. However, in my case it didn’t thicken up enough after 25 minutes of simmering, so I ended up using some.
This Maple Fig Jam turned out lovely! It’s definitely better than any store-bought fruit preserves because you can taste the fruit – not the sugar!

Hi – I’m Ben, a blogger, recipe developer, and food photographer. I’m glad you’re here! I hope you will enjoy hundreds of delicious recipes and a pinch of havoc in the kitchen.
I’ve never thought of combining fig and maple, but I think it’s a great idea! One of our neighborhood fig trees is still producing, and I’m going to give this a try. I also like that it’s a small batch so I won’t end up with too much and don’t have to can it
Figs are so expensive here but I love them, usually pair them with cheese, now you gave me a new idea.
Home made jams are much better than any store bought jam, I couldn’t agree more Ben! And I love how you’ve made this Maple Fig Jam with mapyle syrup instead of sugar. That’s right up my street!

How lovely, Ben! I love figs, but hate how short the season is! Maple syrup sounds like a wonderful complement to the figs in this jam.
We love figs in our house – both fresh and dried! What a wonderful idea to combine them with maple and vanilla in jam. I’m imagining this with creamy, salty cheese on crispy crackers!
What a fun combination of fall flavors here, Ben! Oh! Guess what? You remember how we used to have a hard time finding figs in upstate NY? Well here in North Carolina, we have a HUGE fig tree in our backyard. We ate so many figs in September that I thought I was going to turn into a fig. Hah. It’s mostly done producing now, but I did freeze a few. I’ll have to use those to make this jam on a cold winter day!

I’ll definitely raise my hand. I adore figs. And the combination with maple syrup, though suprising to me at least, sounds very nice indeed.
