Blackberry Mojito

Hey folks! How are you doing? Did you enjoy your weekend, and you are now ready for new week (which is actually the last August week?) Yeah, it is Labour Day just in a week meaning the summer is gradually coming to an end.

In fact, Labour Day is typically considered as the unofficial end to summer while meteorologists consider September 1st as the start of fall. I bet many of my readers and fellow bloggers are starting to enjoy apples and pumpkins, am I right? Sorry – I am going to hold on to summer recipes for a little while.

Blackberry Mojito

Besides, with Labour Day around the corner, we all need to enjoy another summer cocktail (or three) to commemorate the summer season, am I right?

And this Blackberry Mojito is an excellent choice – easy to make, fresh, luscious, and refreshing. Considering that September is quite warm in many countries, why not make this drink for the Labour weekend?

You will need only six ingredients – fresh blackberries, sugar, mint, lime, white rum, and soda water. Plus ice. While fresh fruit and berries for mojito are always the best choice, I would say you can also go with frozen blackberries – in my humble opinion, freezing do not affect much their flavour and texture.

You can also make it non-alcoholic. For this you will need to swap the rum for more of sparkling water or club soda (you may need to try and adjust the sweetness or tartness by adding more sugar or lime.) So refreshing and suitable for kids!

I’m looking forward to the fall temperatures as well as the traditional recipes that come out this time of the year. But it’s still warm here in the mountains, and that means a good mojito is in order! And we just picked up a flat of blackberries at the farmer’s market. It’s like you knew I was looking for a way to use some of those berries!

It’s always sad to see summer go. September is actually one of my favorite months, because everyone abandons the summery places, and you can have them all to yourself! And it’s usually still sunny and warm, but not unbearably hot. All of this is better, of course, with a nice, fruity cocktail!
