First of all, I should apologize, my dear Italian friends! You might not have been shocked with my previous sweet pasta such as Fig Pasta and Peach Pasta. But this Blackberry Lavender Pasta may sound like an offensive joke on famous Italian cuisine.
Shame on me.
Wait. Indeed, I’m not guilty at all. There’s one guy you should blame for this pasta.
When David (Spicedblog) posted the recipe for Blackberry Cake, I knew a horrible mistake had occurred. I mean, look at this cake! It should have been Blackberry Lavender Cake! The cake with its vibrant color was just screaming: “Lavender!”
Yup, I have always felt David is prejudiced against lavender!
Indeed, I’m not going to give up. Perhaps, I should sue him for not incorporating lavender. Do we have some kind of a Food Bloggers Tribunal? I would be asking a judge to make a strict decision, for instance, to oblige David to bake 500 lavender cookies and 125 lavender cupcakes, then make 25 liters of lavender ice cream, and finally 10 jars of lavender lemonade. Not severe enough? You’re right. Plus, to make 5 Blackberry Lavender Cakes. And something savory. What about lavender burgers? Okay, that’s enough. I’m not a revengeful guy at all.
In a meanwhile, I’ve got to fix David’s mistakes. In June, I made blackberry and lavender oatmeal which I may post later on.
And now this Blackberry Lavender Pasta. I don’t now how but blackberries and lavender work awesome together! Perhaps, for you this marriage between lavender and pasta would sound totally bizarre, but that fully worked for me. Combined with lemon thyme, butter, and honey, the strong lavender flavor balances out. In fact, you will get just a subtle lavender aftertaste in the background, with a lovely burst of succulent blackberries. How does that sound now?
That wasn’t bad at all.
But coming back to the beginning, I would love to remind you I’m absolutely innocent.
So, what’s your opinion on sweet pasta and particularly this Blackberry Lavender Pasta? What’s you most innovative use of lavender? And most importantly, what would you consider more outrageous crime – David for not having included lavender in his cake or myself having made this pasta?

Now Ben Adding Lavender to David’s Blackberry cake sounds like a fabulous idea – as does this pasta! I’ve only had a sweet pasta when the pasta was filled with chocolate – like a cannoli, but blackberry and lavender is quite a combo indeed! Looking forward to that blackberry lavender oatmeal!

Right, Shashi! Thanks for your support – now David has to adjust his recipe!
Lavender is made by the Devil! **shakes fist at lavender cakes, lavender salads, lavender oatmeal, lavender scones, and yes even this lavender pasta** Haha! I am totally kidding! I think I was prejudiced against lavender when I ate a cookie one time that tasted like an entire jar of lavender had been dumped into it. But we actually had a lavender cookie at a bakery not too long ago that was phenomenal! Yes, I used phenomenal and lavender in the same sentence. Maybe lavender isn’t really made by the Devil after all…haha! Well done on this pasta, Ben!
