Apple Sage Cocktail is a tasty and complex cocktail that is also subtly sweet and herbaceous. It’s a perfect Halloween cocktail!
Jump to RecipeHello everyone! I hope you’ve all had a restful weekend, and you’re ready for new week. I know, I know – Monday. But in case Monday hasn’t treated you well, you can enjoy this luscious Apple Sage Cocktail. No judgement. No need to wait till Halloween, either.
I’ve felt a little bit overwhelmed because I have another two Halloween recipes to share with you, and we’ve got less than a week! That’s why I am going to keep it super short today as I will need strength for two more posts!
Apple Sage Cocktail
When I was thinking of Halloween cocktail ideas, I immediately thought of apples. Apples are great, but I needed something little extra – just for the Halloween vibe. Sage! Sage infused apple juice, to be precise. In my book, that’s a perfect combo! You will need to simply simmer apple juice with a few fresh sage leaves then let it steep to infuse.
Other components include dark spiced rum (Although whiskey or bourbon would work, too) and a little of maple syrup, for the added sweetness. But if you prefer your cocktail less sweet – or your apple juice is sweet enough, you can skip it. Furthermore, if you’re looking for even more complex flavour profile, consider adding 1/2 oz. of Cointreau or other orange liquor. I think it would be wonderful!

Apple Sage Cocktail

hoursApple Sage Cocktail is a tasty and complex cocktail that is also subtly sweet and herbaceous. It’s a perfect Halloween cocktail!
Ingredients
1/2 cup apple juice, preferably tart
about 10 large fresh sage leaves
2 oz. dark rum (I used black spiced)
2 oz. sage infused apple juice
1/4 to 1/2 oz. maple syrup (optional)
soda or water (optional)
Directions
- Add the apple juice and sage in a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes. Off heat and let it completely cool and infuse, for 1-2 hours then discard the sage leaves.
- For the cocktail, in a shaker combine the infused apple juice and rum. Try, and if you prefer it sweeter, add the maple syrup and shake again. The cocktail would be quite strong, so you may want to serve it on rocks or fill with a little of soda or water. Enjoy!

Well this sounds quite different and delicious! I do enjoy herby cocktails on occasion, and I think this one sounds great for autumn. I’ll take bourbon with mine, please!
