Few weeks back I was asked to make a sophisticated and even a bit whimsical salad for one occasion. Sophisticated salad? I love sophisticated salads! Indeed, I love the world “sophisticated”. You may have noticed that. Moreover, being an ESL speaker, surprisingly I love sophisticated vocabulary…oh, again, sorry:)

Sophisticated salad is about few things: a dressing, the contrast of textures, and the contrast of flavors.

Maple Glazed Brussel Sprouts

Have you ever had a situation when a planned dish was transformed while cooking? Don’t answer though – I guess it will be “yes”. Not being a spontaneous person in life, I can act like that in the kitchen. That often happens to me, especially when I make a salad or pasta dish.  I have tried doing the same thing in baking, but after screwing up a few layer cakes I came to realize I shouldn’t be that frivolous with cakes.

Sometimes I can blame my memory for forgetting to add an ingredient and finding that out only while taking pictures or  having eaten the meal.

Mushrooms, Sweet Peas and Bacon Pasta

We love pasta.

I mean we DO love pasta.

I’ve just started my blog but if you came back in a month or about, you will find out that the prevalent tags here are “salads” and “pasta”.  Salads will always win though since we have a pasta meal only once a week-two but salads almost every day.

Perhaps, I will dedicate a long post to pasta since I’ve got some interesting stories related to it.
