There are some foods you don’t particularly notice being a child or teen, but then, almost all at once, start to be obsessed with. My next food story is about gorgeous rhubarb, friends!

Being a child, we had a lot of rhubarb my parents used to grow in our summer cottage. I guess they might haven’t cultivated it – once planted rhubarb doesn’t need you attention. It just gradually conquers and annexes the surrounded territories. I could have enjoyed it during summer time if I had had any developed palate, but I just took it for granted. Perhaps it was the way too tart for a kid. My mom would make some kind of rhubarb drink and pies, and that were basically the only two things.  I don’t know what happened, but then for a number of years it disappeared from that garden and quite soon we wouldn’t have that cottage as well.

Hello, World, and happy National Doughnut Day!

Indeed, I didn’t know about such a glorious day, but I was lucky to have some unpublished pictures. I haven’t made any donuts for 67 days and a couple of hours. Just saying :) I’m not going to be talking about these donuts any long because it’s the time for some new revelations.

It’s always interesting to me how people start cooking. In my case, everything seems to have started all of a sudden. At least I don’t remember any attempts to cook before that significant day.

Furthermore, what kind of person you are, what kind of chef you are and how did you end up being a food blogger – that’s the really fascinating stuff to me! If you’re looking for a recipe, you can just grab a cooking book. If you’re looking for a story or feelings behind this recipe, you’re welcome to a food blog! That’s why I’ve decided to start a new series of posts called Revelations where I’m going to narrate about some my biographical facts (how did I start cooking), about what kind of chef am I (definitely I will disclose why it’s ‘havoc in the kitchen’), and even about some personal characteristics which determine who I am in life. Baileys Marshmallows

We’re that kind of guys who are rather indifferent to alcohol. I mean we love to have a glass of wine, but we’re totally fine not having it for a long time as well.

I don’t like any strong drinks. I use whiskey or brandy only in cooking and rum in alcoholic cocktails. As for vodka, I can’t even stand the way it smells and tastes (As the family story says, being 3-year-old or so boy, I by a mistake drank a small glass of vodka and after that in no time felt asleep for a number of hours. I guess that was the time I already figured out that wasn’t the drink of my dreams at all). Once, being an adult, I tried some vodka produced in Finland, with different flavors from strawberry to peppermint, and that was even worse (no offense, Finland! You produce awesome chocolate and ice cream!)
