This Mango Cardamom Oatmeal is a delicious and simple summer solution for your breakfast.
Talking about simple things, a few days ago I needed to make a call to one company. Indeed, I don’t like doing these things (We have spouses to handle this stuff. I prefer to save time for developing recipes and cooking); however, since Andrey was far away, I didn’t have any alternative.
Sure, like in most situations, I was greeted by a pleasant recorded voice asking to follow the instructions. Surprisingly I did well even though normally I need to listen to them more than once – I mean try to figure out which option out of the suggested 27 would fit your agenda and then push the right button on your cell before your time is over!
It didn’t last long, though. When I was asked to confirm the card number, I hesitated for a second trying to figure this out. I assumed if I needed to push one button on the cell on all my way to this particular question, I should continue doing that. I tried # and *, but it didn’t work. What the hell?
I tried few other things too.
Obviously, it wasn’t working, but that lovely voice continued with the next question asking to verify my phone number.
I started to be nervous. Needless to say, I needed to start everything over once I run out the time.
Why so complicated? There are those buttons like on Netflix to vote for? Thumb up, thumb down – that would be so much simpler.
Having been trying different options for at least 5 minutes, when I heard this ridiculously familiar question again (By that time I had learned the script by heart), almost desperately I pronounced: “YES”.
Amazingly, this worked! I proceeded and confirmed the phone number, and that time I said: “That’s right.” It worked again. There were a few other questions I needed to confirm, and I continued to experience with different answers. I might have said once “Yup!”, and it still worked!
How easy was that, eh? Sometimes answers are ludicrously simple.

Mango Cardamom Oatmeal
Simple yet delicate, delicious, and super creamy.
Normally, I don’t like using milk when making porridge (I prefer water), but this time, I took a part of almond milk mixed with water, and the result was great.
I do love both mango and cardamom, I and I was planning to combine them in Mango Cardamom Oatmeal for a while. Finally, this happened, and I am pleased with this scrumptious breakfast or brunch. And sure there’s a little touch of roasted cashews because they make everything better.
As you see, a delicious and dressed up porridge doesn’t need to be complicated. Simple answers, simple recipes, a piece of cake, a bowl of porridge, and so on.
This Mango Cardamom Oatmeal is the clear prove to what I am saying.

Creamy, dreamy, and scrumptious Mango Cardamom Oatmeal.
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup almond milk
- 1/3-1/2 cup rolled oats (I usually take those need to be cooked about 5 minutes) *1/2 cup for a thicker version (I used 1/2 cup)
- pinch of salt
- 1 small peeled mango (1 cup chunks)
- a good pinch of cardamom
- 1/4 cup cashews
- In a small pot bring the water, almond milk, and salt to a boil.
- Add the oats and cook few minutes, stirring (I always cook 2 minutes less then recommended on package).
- Add the mango and cardamom, mix, and off heat. Let the oatmeal stand for a minute-two and serve sprinkled with the cashews and a little of additional cardamom if desired.
