Chicken, Grapes and Feta Salad

Chicken, Grapes and Feta Salad
Perhaps it’s hard to believe but most of our meals (and by “meals” I’m talking about dinners and sometimes lunches) are salads. Yes, salads, delicious, refreshing, satisfying and sometimes outstanding. We often cook some veggies, especially when it’s cold outside as well, but they are pretty much the same idea. If you back to this blog in a year, you’ll probably find 100 salad recipes or even 102. Don’t wait that long though – I’m happy to see you every day.

Why salads?

It’s just the perfect option for both of us.

Banana Oat Bread

Banana Oat Bread (2)

I’ve always told that being a food blogger means not only posting the recipes – it’s about an inspiration. We are all inspired by the different sources of information, but in my book, it’s quintessential to be inspired by the other food bloggers – our colleagues. Having had my food Instagram account for almost a year, that  happened to me a few times. But that’s a story for another post.

That time my source of the inspiration was David, and his amazing spicedblog.

I had been raising a sceptical eye at banana bread for a long time (I guess it might have happened long time before I was born). Being already quite a mature guy, I had made a few attempts try a slice of banana bread, but they hadn’t been successful. The reason was simple – the texture. Obviously, banana bread should be moist enough, but those I tried had often been more than moist – soggy and sticky. Sure, I wasn’t that enthusiastic to bake it on my own since I knew it could end up being discarded. I gave up on this recipe the long time ago, and I didn’t anticipate I would ever try one.

Prosciutto and Arugula Pizza

Prosciutto Arugula Pizza
What could be better than a hot, crispy and gooey homemade pizza on a lovely Saturday/Sunday day? I’ve said that about a bowl of pasta though. And polenta as well. Anyways, the weekends have been created for having something super cozy and comfort. Something, you should spend a bit more your time than usual. So, pizza is quite a good choice, isn’t it?

We have had pizza already twice in this month, and hopefully we’ll continue! It could be such a good tradition, right?

Even though Toronto has a lot of good places where you can order a delicious pizza, I’ll repeat – there is still nothing better than a homemade one. I’m able to say that only for the last couple of years, though.

Maple Syrup Marshmallows

Maple Syrup Marshmallows

Ladies and Gentlemen!

You’ve been waiting for this historic day for ages for a few days.

You’ve been intrigued. You’ve been that excited that you’ve probably (and hopefully) lost sleep over it.

You’ve been thinking and thinking over trying to guess what kind of a new kick I am having now. Perhaps, you can’t believe my donut love is over, and I am not suffering from this donut-addiction.

I am not. But I do have a new kick – on homemade marshmallows!

Ham, Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Walnut Pasta

Ham, Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Walnut Pasta (3)

Our family has got a special attitude toward pasta. It has been some kind of a tradition to have a bowl of delish pasta on Fridays or on Saturdays. Or better on Fridays and Saturdays. We used to eat it often, but for the last year and something we’ve decided to cut down on it. If I weren’t so enthusiastic about making desserts, we would be able to have it on Saturdays as well. But as you know, I’m not that guy.

Brussels Sprouts and Chicken Pasta

DSCN8616Believe me or not, but we love brussels sprouts!

Why am I telling you that? That’s because the peculiar attitude to this gorgeous veggie. I’ve read and heard numerous of times from the folks who generally loved vegetables with the only one exception – brussels sprouts. Moreover, I’ve known people being tolerant to broccoli and cauliflower  (and OMG – to KALE!) but at the same time being almost disgusted with brussels sprouts!

Weird, isn’t it? What’s wrong with that? How did the brussels sprouts get the reputation of the most obnoxious veggie? Am I asking too many questions? I am being curious.
